Dr. Brian Calhoon is a Delaware native, growing up in the Wilmington area and graduating from Salesianum High School in 2008. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he majored in Biology and minored in Business Administration. He then achieved his goal of becoming a dentist after graduating from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2020 where he was highly regarded for his involvement with the American Student Dental Association and also received a Radiology Clerkship Award. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at the Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital to round out his education. Dr. Brian embraces the spirit of “lifelong learning” by attending numerous continuing education courses every year and hopes to one day attain the title of Master in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Brian developed a strong passion for organized dentistry over his time in dental school. It eventually led to him becoming the American Student Dental Association president for the University of Maryland where he was able to work with the Maryland State Dental Association as a board member. He currently holds membership with the American Dental Association (ADA), the Delaware State Dental Society (DSDS), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). He takes an active role in these societies to help further the dental profession and promote quality oral health care for patients.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Brian enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie, son Thomas, and their dog Bear. He is an avid car enthusiast that enjoys (and sometimes regrets) diving head first into any maintenance or performance projects on his car. He also enjoys traveling, snowboarding, playing tennis, home improvement projects, and socializing with friends and family.
